OAC Elementary Curriculum Nights Highlight Classroom Learning

OAC Elementary hosted two curriculum nights in October, giving families a closer look at classroom routines, academic expectations, and the subjects their children will study during the 2026–2027 school year.

Kindergarten–Second Grade

On October 1, OAC Elementary hosted a two-hour evening for families of kindergarten through second-grade students. Teachers introduced their classroom approaches and outlined expectations for core subjects, including literature, mathematics, science, and history.

The presentations also highlighted the development of critical-thinking skills and the importance of building a strong academic foundation during the elementary years. Families gained insight into what their children will experience in the classroom and how they can support their learning at home.

Third–Fifth Grade

The second curriculum night took place on October 5 and focused on third through fifth grade. Teachers discussed classroom routines, academic content, expectations, and strategies for supporting children outside of school.

Third-grade topics included the daily schedule, morning meeting, Fundations, reading comprehension, Math in Focus, grammar, writing, science, social studies, vocabulary, responsibility and integrity, and communication.

Fifth-grade teachers covered the daily schedule, mathematics, social studies, science, homework, MAP testing, classroom policies, and ways families can assist with learning at home.

The two evenings provided an opportunity for OAC families to gain a better understanding of their children’s educational experience while strengthening communication between home and school. OAC Elementary looks forward to continuing to create opportunities for families and educators to work together in support of student growth and success.
