8th Graders Build Colonial Forts in Social Studies

Students in the 8th grade Middle School Social Studies class have been busy building colonial-style forts, similar to the ones built before and during the American Revolution.

For the project “Building Forts!”, students worked in groups to design and create their forts using clay and popsicle sticks. The assignment asked them to work together, and each student’s grade was based on participation, which made teamwork a key part of the project.

Mr. Murphy shared photos of the students at work, showing them shaping clay, arranging sticks, and putting their ideas together. After seeing the photos, another teacher praised the class, saying, “Excellent fort designs!”

The project gave students a hands-on way to connect with American history and see what colonial life and defense may have looked like. Great work, 8th grade!
