A pre-law program for High School a officially commenced Saturday, May 18, aiming to inspire and educate students who are interested in law and the legal profession.
The inaugural lecture, titled “An Introduction to the U.S. Legal System,” provided an overview of key legal foundations. The high school students were introduced to the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Amendments, helping them gain insight into the core principles that shape American law.
The session also covered the structure of the federal and the state court systems, helping the students understand the hierarchy and functions of various courts in this country. Beyond the basics, the lecture also highlighted the various career pathways that a legal education can open up.
“Understanding the law equips students with valuable research, writing, and analytical skills, which are highly transferable and sought after in numerous fields and industries. The ability to think critically and communicate effectively is a significant advantage in today’s competitive market,” said Jacob Chatterjee, Esq., former Chairman, Veritas Society International and Principal. This pre-law program, which will cover substantive laws, including Contracts, Torts, Property, and Criminal Law, will continue until the next couple of months and students who attend the program will be given the opportunity to pursue internship at Veritas Law Firm during the summer break.
