The elementary students went to the “Ada Twist, Scientist & Friends” musical at the Warner Theatre in Torrington, CT on Monday May 13th. For many of these young minds, it was their first experience witnessing the magic of live theater, and their enthusiasm was palpable as they eagerly made their way into the theater.
The musical, based on the beloved books “Rosie Revere, Engineer,” “Iggy Peck, Architect,” and “Ada Twist, Scientist” by Andrea Beaty, captivated the students with its vibrant storytelling and catchy tunes. But more than just entertainment, “Ada Twist, Scientist & Friends” served as an educational journey, shining a spotlight on the principles of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).
The narrative unfolded in Ms. Greer’s classroom, where three young protagonists – Rosie Revere, Iggy Peck, and Ada Twist – showcased their boundless curiosity and creativity. Rosie dreamed big, Iggy was passionate about architecture, and Ada’s insatiable curiosity led her to solve any problem in her path.
As the students watched in awe, they were not only entertained but also inspired by the characters’ ingenuity and perseverance. The musical sparked discussions among the students, igniting their imaginations and fueling their interest in STEM subjects.
For many of the students, “Rosie Revere, Engineer” marked their introduction to the world of theater, and they couldn’t stop talking about it on the bus ride back to school. The experience left a lasting impression, prompting the school to plan more field trips that would not only enrich their academic knowledge but also broaden their horizons and foster a love for learning.
As the curtains closed on their theater excursion, the students returned to their classrooms with newfound enthusiasm, ready to embark on their own journeys of discovery and innovation. And as they eagerly awaited their next adventure, one thing was certain – the impact of “Ada Twist, Scientist & Friends” would continue to resonate long after the final bow.
