Olivet Academy’s elementary school students experienced their first lyrical dance classes as part of the school’s afterschool activities on Thursday, January 9th. This initiative was introduced to provide a variety of engaging and creative options for students beyond regular classroom hours.

Ms. Ortolano, the 2nd-grade main teacher, is leading the classes. She will guide students in preparing a special dance performance for the upcoming Easter celebration. The program is organized into two groups: one for kindergarten to 2nd-grade students and another for 3rd to 5th graders, ensuring age-appropriate instruction and engagement.

During the first class, students learned and practiced basic ballet motions by following Ms. Ortolano’s lead. The session focused on introducing foundational techniques while fostering a love for dance.

Ms. Ortolano expressed her hope that the students’ performance will be a memorable highlight of the Easter event, showcasing their hard work and the skills they develop over the semester.

The lyrical dance classes are expected to enhance the students’ physical coordination, creativity, and confidence while adding a new dimension to the school’s vibrant afterschool program.
