Olivet Academy has begun the 2025–2026 school year with a team of talented new teachers and an expanded range of athletic activities. The school has also recognized the outstanding performance of its students, which inspired the decision to provide more opportunities for them to compete with students from other schools — both to motivate them and to help them measure their growth.
Recently, Olivet Academy participated in two external athletic events: a soccer scrimmage game against Upton Lake Christian Academy and the 2025 Marvelwood Cross Country Invitational — achieving remarkable results in both.
Marvelwood School in Kent is a private high school known for maintaining a high-quality athletic program. The 2025 Marvelwood Cross Country Team has been competing in various invitational and league meets throughout the fall season. In particular, on October 22, the team hosted its own event — the Marvelwood Invitational — where Olivet Academy’s Cross Country Club made history by placing second overall in its first-ever race.
School Director John Vivian shared,
“At Olivet Academy, we take 1 Corinthians 9:24 literally — ‘Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.’”
Olivet Academy continues to nurture Christian leaders, believing that physical strength supports spiritual health. The school sees athletic achievement as an important way to inspire students to strengthen both body and spirit.
Looking ahead, Olivet Academy plans to expand its athletic programs and increase participation in external competitions. Under the leadership of Mr. Matthew Cavuoto, the new Physical Education teacher, the school has also launched a new Athletics webpage to share updates and celebrate student accomplishments.
We look forward to your warm interest and support for Olivet Academy’s athletic development.
Above all, we give thanks and glory to God, who continues to guide and strengthen our students as they move forward.
