The ESL program at Olivet Academy Amenia celebrated the successful completion of the first half of the academic year with a joyful event, recognizing students’ remarkable progress in English language proficiency.

A highlight of the celebration was the recognition of two students—8th grader Micah Wu and 12th grader Benjamin Chang—who have officially exited the ESL program after meeting all required criteria. Their achievement reflects their dedication and hard work in advancing their English skills.

Additionally, over 85% of English Language Learners (ELLs) demonstrated growth in their language proficiency assessments or MAP Growth reading test scores, highlighting the effectiveness of the program and the students’ commitment to improvement.

To commemorate this milestone, students enjoyed a movie day, creating a fun and relaxing atmosphere to celebrate their achievements. Adding to the excitement, Middle High Director P. John Vivian presented a special gift—a Spring Festival LEGO set—as a meaningful token of encouragement and cultural appreciation.

The ESL team expressed gratitude to the students, teachers, and families for their support and looks forward to continued progress in the second half of the school year.
