From May 5th to 9th, Olivet Academy celebrated Teachers Appreciation Week with a series of heartfelt events designed to honor and thank the teachers for their unwavering dedication and love. Each day featured a special activity, thoughtfully prepared by Music Teacher Mifa and Art Teacher Dr. Agnes, who began organizing the week’s events two weeks in advance with the help of students from all grade levels.
Day 1 – Awards Ceremony
The week began with a morning service where Pastor Claire and Pastor John delivered a meaningful message on the importance of appreciating teachers. After the service, students presented handmade awards to teachers—each one reflecting what students admire most about them. These personal and creative awards brought smiles and even a few tears of joy to the faculty.
Day 2 – Gifts and Special Messages
On Tuesday, the school distributed thoughtful gifts prepared by parents. In addition, some students created special messages and performances to express their gratitude, making the atmosphere even more warm and appreciative.
Day 3 – Portrait Presentation and Skit
Wednesday marked the highlight of the week. Students unveiled beautifully framed portraits of each teacher—an original and touching gesture that had never been tried before. It was a precious moment not only to thank teachers for their love and dedication, but also to recognize the artistic talents of the students. Even the school bus driver joined in the fun, joking about the missing beard in his portrait, while still expressing his deep appreciation for the thoughtful gesture.
The day also featured a drama skit performed by high school students during the morning service for the elementary students. The skit depicted the lives of both David and Daniel, bringing laughter, inspiration, and joy to the audience through engaging storytelling and enthusiastic acting.
Day 4 – Room Service and Music
Thursday offered teachers a chance to be pampered. Early in the morning, students placed food order tags on every teacher’s office and classroom door. After the morning service—featuring a ukulele performance by elementary students—teachers received their requested refreshments, delivered by students with big smiles. To top off the day, ice cream was served in the faculty lounge to help everyone cool down during the warming spring weather.
Day 5 – Final Drama Performance
The week concluded with a drama performance by high school students titled “The Israelite’s Wilderness Journey.” The play illustrated the challenges God faced in guiding the Israelites and mirrored the tireless dedication and sacrificial love that teachers show their students every day. It was a moving and powerful end to a truly memorable week.
Teachers Appreciation Week at Olivet Academy was not just a celebration—it was a beautiful reminder of the deep bond between students, parents, and teachers. Through creativity, collaboration, and love, the school community came together to honor those who give their hearts every day for the growth and success of the next generation.
