Students from the elementary school at Olivet Academy in Amenia recently took an educational field trip to Ronnybrook Farm, a renowned dairy farm located in Pine Plains, New York. Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Ronnybrook has been producing high-quality milk, yogurt, butter, ice cream, and other dairy products for over 30 years. Its products are distributed throughout the region and in New York City.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about dairy farming firsthand. They toured the farm’s facilities, observing the production and packaging process for various dairy products. One of the highlights was visiting the barn, where students saw young calves — including one born just two hours earlier.

To finish the day, students enjoyed a hands-on butter-making activity and were treated to Ronnybrook’s signature chocolate milk and vanilla ice cream during lunch.

The field trip was a fun and enriching way to wrap up the school’s third academic quarter.

Olivet Academy deeply values enrichment experiences like this, where students can connect with nature and food sources, cultivate curiosity and critical thinking, grow socially and emotionally, and support their classroom learning through real-world experiences.
