Students learned the most up-to-date guidelines for performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR. The instructor modeled the proper way to perform CPR skills such as chest compressions and rescue breathing.

Olivet Academy Amenia’s middle and high school health club sponsored a CPR training for students on June 13th.

Mr. Michael Piccione, the Physical Education teacher sponsor of the Health Club, commented: “We are so thankful for Jim Hutchinson from Sharon hospital for training our students.”

Mr. Hutchinson was invited to conduct the training by one of the senior students, Heewon Ham, who is volunteering at Sharon Hospital. He graciously volunteered to cover the cost of the training and will provide certificates to participants.

Olivet Academy is grateful that students can learn this type of life-saving skills in order to be prepared to respond to an emergency.
