Step Into Middle School: Olivet Academy Welcomes the Class of 2026!
Transitioning to middle school is a major milestone, and at Olivet Academy, we love making that first step as welcoming and exciting as possible. Recently, our incoming sixth graders stepped onto campus for their Grade 6 Orientation, brimming with bright smiles, nervous energy, and eager anticipation for the year ahead.
The afternoon was packed with valuable insights, building tours, fun games, and important routines designed to help our newest middle schoolers feel right at home.
A Warm Welcome and Lunch Together
The day kicked off with a lively lunch in the cafeteria, giving students a chance to connect right away. Following lunch, students were guided safely down to the middle school building, reviewing essential safety rules for walking to and from lunch and physical education classes.
Next, the students gathered in the lecture room to receive an encouraging welcome and spiritual grounding from Pastor John.
Exploring Classrooms and Learning the Ropes
The rotation-style tour gave students an inside look at their new academic home:
- Math & Homeroom: Students met key teachers, received their new sixth-grade schedules, and tackled the art of locker organization. A major theme of the session? Responsibility! Students learned how to stay organized and bring everything they need to class to avoid interrupting instructional time.
- Science Classroom: This stop covered morning arrival procedures—dropping off backpacks at lockers, grabbing a Bible, and heading quietly to the chapel for Morning Service before returning to grab materials for first period. A fun game wrapped up the session.
- ELA Classroom: Common-area expectations were front and center here, covering hallway etiquette, building entryways, keeping spaces clean, and respecting off-limits zones like offices and copy rooms.
Athletics, Wrap-Up, and Looking Ahead
No middle school tour is complete without checking out the gym! Students received an energetic tour of the athletic center, paired with a quick activity to keep spirits high.
Finally, the orientation wrapped up in the History classroom to review end-of-day routines:
- Wednesdays & Fridays: Grab items from lockers and head to the high school building for the bus.
- Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays: Collect items from lockers and head directly to assigned after-school activities.
Looking Forward to a Great Year
From learning locker basics to discovering daily routines, our sixth graders handled the orientation like pros. We were thrilled to see so many bright smiles and eager faces, and we are deeply looking forward to watching these students grow academically, socially, and spiritually at Olivet Academy this year!
