Olivet Academy students in Amenia enjoyed freshly baked pizza at lunch in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Observed in several Asian cultures on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, the festival is a time to gather, share food, and give thanks for the harvest under the full moon.
Our maintenance manager brought the ingredients and equipment to campus and baked the pizzas near the cafeteria as students arrived for lunch. His son-in-law, Enrique, prepared the dough using his own secret recipe.
The delicious pizza gave students a memorable lunch and an opportunity to learn about a tradition celebrated by families across Asia.
