Kindergarten Science Adventure: Exploring States of Matter with Oobleck and Dr. Seuss

January 22, 2024, 1:10 p.m. ET I

In our kindergarten class, we recently had a blast with science! Our little scientists explored different stuff, and the coolest thing was making something called oobleck. It’s like magic goo—just mix cornstarch and water, and ta-da!

We also read a super fun Dr. Seuss book called “Bartholomew and the Oobleck.” It’s all about a gooey adventure. The book made our oobleck experiment even more awesome.

Making oobleck is super easy. You can try it at home! Mix cornstarch and water in a bowl, and add some color if you want. Give it a good stir, and you’ll have gooey oobleck. It’s squishy, slimy, and so much fun!

Our oobleck adventure taught us about cool science things, like how stuff can be both a liquid and a solid. It was messy, but that’s what made it the best day ever. Science is so cool! Can’t wait for our next experiment!
