The school has enlisted the expertise of an academic consultant to provide guidance to the elementary, middle, and high school administrators in curriculum planning, professional development, teacher retention, and general school management.

Principal Jenyan Khor and Elementary School Director Claire Mendoza met with Sara Jacobs, the Academic Services Field Director for the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), on Monday to discuss the collaboration details and outline school priorities. Sara also provided valuable advice regarding communication with the New York State Department of Education.

One of the initial projects discussed was professional development. The idea of having a third party conduct teacher evaluations this year was explored.

“She offered to assist us with the evaluations, and we agreed that it would provide a more objective approach, aiding in identifying necessary professional development,” shared Pastor Claire.

Sara brings extensive experience as a teacher, department chair, principal, and head of school at Faith Christian Academy, a Christian school in Poughkeepsie, New York. Her diverse background allows her to offer insights from various perspectives, making her a valuable advisor to Olivet Academy.
