The Elementary School faculty and staff held a professional development session on Friday, February 2nd, marking the midpoint of the 2023-2024 school year.

Faculty and staff continued their courses on Christian Philosophy of Education, provided by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Teachers also reviewed their classroom goals for the remainder of the year and received feedback.

“We are pleased with the progress made in integrating Christian Philosophy of Education into our curriculum. Two of our teachers are nearing completion of the program, which involves watching courses, reading books, writing papers, and developing Biblically integrated lesson plans,” shared Pastor Claire Mendoza, the Elementary School Director. “Although initially daunting, we are grateful that our teachers understand the importance of developing a Christian philosophy to fulfill the school’s mission.”

Elementary school director Claire presented insights from the “Sparking Curiosity” STEM conference, which school leaders attended in St. Louis, Missouri, from January 29th to 31st. She discussed the STEM curriculum, Project Lead the Way (PLTW), its pedagogy and components, breakout session topics, keynote addresses, and interactions with other educators.

Teachers also reviewed the Map Growth standardized testing schedules for the upcoming week.

Olivet Academy Elementary prays for a successful second half of the school year.
