April 13, 2026, 9:00 a.m. ET

Olivet Academy, aiming to emphasize safety for school bus riders, held its school bus safety spring drill with students who ride the bus each day from Dover to Amenia on April 10, 2026.

Middle School Director Claire Mendoza led the safety drill, going over the rules for riding the bus. She was assisted by weekday school bus driver Mr. Emerson. The safety drill is conducted to emphasize the importance of following driver directions in an emergency. Another safety drill with boarding school students will take place on Sunday morning after they return from service.

The drill covered bus rules, disciplinary consequences, and a reminder to keep a focus on safety until the end of the school year.

The drill covered efficiency in loading and unloading, seat belts, emergency equipment, exits, and what to do when a driver becomes disabled.

An evacuation drill took place, allowing students in the front of the bus to exit through the front door and those in the back to exit through the rear door.

It also covered safe crossing in front of the bus, ensuring that the driver gives an “OK to cross” signal.

Please pray that Olivet Academy students and staff may be alert, putting into action guidance to keep safe during school activities and while riding the school bus.
